Overview

Jon Smollen currently serves on the Board of Directors of Astellas Pharma US and teaches as an adjunct faculty member at Temple Law.  He also frequently advises multinational corporations and non-profits on ethics and compliance programs and data privacy.  From 2016-21, Jon was on the faculty of Temple Law and served as the Executive Director of the Center for Compliance and Ethics which he helped found.  He currently serves on the Center’s Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Temple Law, he held senior legal and compliance positions at a number of pharmaceutical and medical device companies including Wyeth, Pfizer, Siemens and Endo.  Prior to joining the private sector, Jon was an advisor to FTC Commissioner Thomas B. Leary and an attorney in the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. He began his legal career at Squire, Sanders, and Dempsey in Washington, D.C and served as a judicial clerk for U.S. District Judge James P. Jones.

He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served on the Articles Review Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law.  He is a cum laude graduate of Georgetown University with a B.A. in history and government and received his M.A. from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a focus on international policy economy and human rights.
