Yifan Wang

Yifan is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Ethics and Legal Studies. Her research has two main strands: emotions in the workplace and firms’ participation in democracy. Her dissertation focuses on the ethics of how employees’ emotional experiences are shaped by the workplace, including how the way employees’ emotions are influenced by management practices may contribute to organizational wrongdoing, how these practices shape individuals’ moral values, and ethical issues arising from these practices.

Before coming to Penn, Yifan earned an M.A. in Philosophy from Georgia State University and graduated with high distinction from the University of Virginia, where she double-majored in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law (PPL) and Statistics. Between undergrad and graduate studies, Yifan worked at NERA Economic Consulting, assisting economists testifying as expert witnesses in antitrust and class action lawsuits.

Outside of academia, Yifan enjoys practicing hip-hop dance and exploring various neighborhoods in Philly.
